The Earth Divides Before Me
I am known by one word to those who need a trench dug; The Best. Or to be more precise; “Thebest." Which begs an important subject; vitamin D. Some claim we are in a vitamin D deficiency crisis. Never being one who bought into sunscreen I certainly didn’t have that problem while I was excavating, as vitamin D’s natural source is the skin, and it needs sun to produce it. It is good for your mood and brain and needed by all your organs.
But my rhubarb is getting too much sun. It puts up one seed stalks after the other which needs to be removed or it will ruin the taste. You want the nice red stalks but we haven’t gotten many. I asked my mother if rhubarb needs a lot of sun and she said “Yes.” But I knew she always grew her rhubarb on the north side of the house and though she never got a lot we always had great tasting red stalks. I did an Internet search a while back on how to grow rhubarb which was no help. Then today I typed in growing rhubarb in the dark and the results were much different. The picture above is old. The rhubarb is huge and the holly is starting to cover the basement window. I don’t know if planting a small decorative tree, like a Japanese Maple, will provide enough shade to make a difference. Maybe when we remodel the garages and landscape the back yard I will move the rhubarb.
Lots of people out riding as the weather is finally turning warm. Have to get in shape if I’m going to race in July. Will have to get to some Wednesday Night Time Trials at Crystal Ridge. I will be doing my own bicycle maintenance. Crystal Ridge will be closed tomorrow for some girl thing.
Ike has a new friend, though I don’t understand what anyone sees in a cat.
Then he got into the bath salts, or maybe he is a zombie dog.
