I went to see the good people at Emery's, always helpful, always friendly, and one of the things I asked about was a generic brace for my knee. The owner, a former Olympic medalist, showed me an exercise to do twice a week to keep everything in your knees aligned correctly. That and a man on the TV complaining about his left knee grew my suspicions that the problem comes from driving a lot. Especially in the previous vehicle we had my left leg just sort of bobbed around often leaning against a vibrating drivers door.
Don Edberg, the founder of WORS, walked in while I was there in full WORS regalia to deliver the 2009 handbooks. Yes the handbooks are out. I got mine in the mail the next day. They don't have a PDF file on their site this year; at least not yet. Registration is open on the web site and so easy to do. One of the best run organizations in bicycling.
I have been hearing a lot about vitamin D over the last year. In regards to your heart health and now to prevent cancer among other things. Most people get vitamin D from exposure to the sun. I almost never wear sunblock when I'm outdoors. Just goes to show you that outdoor activities, like mountain biking, are better for your health than staying in a gym or using the treadmill. Of course with our Winters sometimes you have little choice. A doctor on the radio claimed studies have proven the benefits of vitamin D and that there has been no apparent problems with taking too much. This is in contrast to the fad over vitamin E over the last decade or so.
We got back from our North Woods property late last night. Ship-po kept running to the car looking for Tun-Tun to come out. He didn't come back with us. They have a Country Kitchen in Ladysmith now and with the Wal-Mart many small businesses are having trouble. The Taco Palace was closed so we ate at McDonalds. I picked up this tool at the Ace Hardware and it really did the job. It doesn't look like they are restocking their shelves.
